Vikings Futsal South West Sydney Schools Regional
South West Sydney's Inaugural Vikings Futsal Schools regional On Wednesday the 10th and Thursday the 11th of March, the Sydney South West Regionals took place at the Michael Wenden Aquatic Leisure Centre with ages from 13yrs up to 19yrs taking part in the event. We had an overwhelming number of entries with some schools entering multiple teams. The two day event ran smoothly with a high standard of futsal presenting itself to selectors.
With the first ever Sydney South West Regional Title up for grabs, the competition was fierce. The 19yrs Boys final was quick and very close with Good Samaritan Catholic College taking the win from Miller Tech High in the final minute of the game to leave the scoreline at 4 – 3.
In the 16yrs Boys, Ambarvale and Fairvale dominated the competition all day but we soon found our champions in Ambervale who eventually defeated Fairvale high 7 – 2 in a heated final.
Finally we come to the 19yrs girls who kept the competition interesting with close score-lines all day. Unfortunately there can only be one winner whom in this case happened to be Good Samaritan Catholic College who kept there composure in the final to defeat Holsworthy high who kept up the fight but couldn't break the strong defence of Good Samaritan.
All in all we couldn't have been more happy with the turnout and behaviour of all teams and their coaches. To all schools and teams who participated, well played and we hope to see you all again next year. For those teams who won see you at the State Champions of Champions.
